Cardinal Athletics

St. John the Baptist Catholic School offers a wide variety of athletics for our students to explore their talents, skills and abilities.  With a strong emphasis of living our Catholic faith in all athletics, our students learn to respect and honor the talents and skills of their fellow classmates, students from other teams and themselves.

St. John the Baptist provides an opportunity for students in grades 3-8 to participate in girls volleyball and boys and girls basketball through the Parochial Athletic League of Omaha (PAL).

A $75 athletic fee is required at the time of registration. Participants must also complete a sports physical.

SCHEDULES:

Basketball teams typically practice twice a week. Practices start right after Halloween with games usually starting at the end of November or early December. There is a break over the Christmas holiday, and games resume at the beginning of January. Tournament play begins in late February.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with a team or an activity at the school, please contact the school office at (402) 296-6230.

COOP SPORTS AND CAMPS:

St. John the Baptist also partners with Plattsmouth Middle School and Lourdes Central Catholic to offer junior high sports not offered at St. John’s including football, wrestling and track. In the event that St. John’s does not have the student numbers in junior high to form teas in basketball or volleyball, our school will work with these schools to provide opportunities for students.

Additionally, throughout the year and summer months, K-8 students are also invited to participate in a variety of camps offered by St. John’s as well as our partnering schools that help our young athletes further develop their skills.
