St. John the Baptist students recently competed in District History Day at Peru State College. This year’s theme was “Taking a Stand in History”. ALL St. John Students who competed at the event qualified for the state competition which will be held on April 8 at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Here are the students and their projects:
Junior Group Exhibits
First Place– “Tuskegee Airmen: Taking a Stand in World War II” Harrison Benedict, Jacob Zitek, Max Baumert
In addition, the Tuskegee Airmen group also received a special award for their use of oral history. The group interviewed two Tuskegee Airmen about their experiences during World War II.
Second Place– “Winston Churchill: Taking a Stand Against Hitler” Drew Walton, Kameron Monahan, Christopher Cannon, Aidan Daly
Third Place– “Baryshnikov: Taking a Stand for Artistic Freedom” Aubrey Swaink, Sophia Vercellino, Kelsi Wuelling
