This morning our St. John the Baptist administration was in contact with the Sarpy County Health Department, as well as Dr. Hecker at the Diocese of Lincoln, regarding the developments of COVID-19.
Because we are not aware of any students, school families or staff who attended the Special Olympics event at the Fremont Family YMCA on February 29, 2020, we are at a very low risk to any exposure of the Coronavirus. Therefore, St. John the Baptist School will be in session this week.
We are committed to being vigilant of the health and safety of our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the developments of COVID-19 and make decisions accordingly. Symptoms of COVID-19 can appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.
The most common symptoms reported are:
• Fever of greater than 100.4F
• Cough
• Shortness of breath or difficult breathing
For a more thorough explanation of the symptoms, prevention, etc., please visit the link below.
We do ask that if your child is ill or showing any symptoms to please keep them home per the school’s handbook policies. Parents also have the right to keep their children home if they feel their child is at risk. Our custodian has been deep cleaning the classrooms, door knobs and bathrooms for the last couple of weeks and we will continue this deep cleaning in the future.
We will continue to bring you other helpful information as it presents itself. Please practice good health, hygiene and charity in the midst of these developments.
