St. John the Baptist announced the retirement of Mrs. Mary Jo Meisinger, after 29 years of service to the school. Her retirement will be effective at the end of this school year.

Mary Jo joined St. John the Baptist in 1989 as the seventh and eighth grade teacher. At that time, both grades were combined into one classroom and the school was located downtown. As enrollment grew and class sizes expanded, Mary Jo eventually moved into a sixth grade homeroom position. She taught sixth grade in the building that is now the location of My Neighbor’s Closet Thrift Store. Later, Mary Jo became the fourth grade teacher, until she moved into her current role of a computers and PE teacher in 2017.

Mary Jo was also a teacher at All Saints School in Omaha for two years and was a substitute teacher for Plattsmouth Community Schools. She is an alumna of St. John the Baptist School. In addition, Mary Jo’s children and many grandchildren have also attended the school as well.

We thank Mary Jo for her tireless contributions and dedication to St. John the Baptist School. She has touched the hearts of so many school families over the years and will leave a lasting impression. While we will dearly miss her, we are excited for her to begin this next chapter in life. We wish Mary Jo much happiness!
